The Ink ✦ Sea ✦ Rabbit brand was created from my love of ink as an art medium and my desire to make clothing I want to wear.
I started my journey in ink when I found out about inktober for the first time. I subsequently fell in love with the cleanness of line and the illustrative nature of what could be produced with ink.
During my university studies I chose printmaking as my major, further falling in love with ink as more than just a medium for drawing.
The Process
All prints and clothing at Ink ✦ Sea ✦ Rabbit are hand crafted, from the designs to the carvings to the printing!
Ink ✦ Sea ✦ Rabbit uses relief printing as our main printing method. This means that it takes a lot more time and effort to get a new artwork print ready.
This also means that each print is unique in its own way, as block printing is not always a 100% copy paste method, specifically when printing on fabrics!
The concept of accepting imperfection as its own beauty is central to the Ink Sea Rabbit Philosophy.
There is a special life within the imperfections of the relief printing process that reflect the hand made nature of the products.
We were not made with perfect bodies and souls. Art should reflect this imperfection, for without it we would be lost in uniformity.
